“And the Red Web Award Goes To…” (4th Annual RWA Ceremony)

Welcome to the 4th Annual Red Web Awards Ceremony!4th annual red webs

In case you are unaware of this most prestigious award, here’s what the RED WEB AWARDS are all about:

Award season is always fun! But sometimes, certain films/directors/actors don’t get the recognition I feel they may deserve. So, since that is often the case, a few years ago I decided to host my own “Golden Globe/Oscar Awards” of sorts, in which you get to help participate and choose the winners. This prestigious award, entitled The RED WEB AWARD, pays homage to the dedication, cinematic success, inspiration, and amazement of the nominees. This year a panel of 10 judges was assembled and each judge submitted their nominees for the award categories that were then voted on by you from January the 10th to the 14th. (see the nomination post HERE).

The polls have closed, and now, the much anticipated Awards ceremony is upon us! Get ready, the wait is over. All of the films of 2013, all of the movie-watching, all of the nominations, all of the voting, and all of the blood, sweat, and tears in Hollywood and beyond have led up to THIS glorious moment! Arriving on the red carpet in full glitz and glamour and finding their seats are all of the members of cinematic royalty! Oh wow! Look at how many showed up for this momentous event. Everyone’s here and the red carpet is dazzling with stars. So many absolutely amazing stars! Hopefully some of them will have their wish come true with a Red Web Award!rwa arrivals

We’ve been waiting for a long time to see who the winners of the prestigious Red Web Awards would be. The moment of truth is upon us. Please join me in a warm welcome for your hosts of this year’s Red Web Award Ceremony:

Did your favorite nominee(s) win?

After the ceremony I caught up with some of the winners and nominees. Here were some of the highlights of my post-ceremony interviews:

  • Matthew McConaughey said he hoped that the phrase “His name is MUD” would finally be a good thing again and that now he was ready to eat a few burgers after his massive 45lb weight loss for Dallas Buyers Club. He then looked over at Christian Bale (who gained 40lbs for American Hustle) and yelled “Hey bro, do I have a diet plan for YOU, forget The Machinist!”matthew
  • Turbo crawled back to his limo, saddened about being in the ZERO votes club. I waited for him to stop by and answer a few questions…but he took too long.
  • Brad Pitt told me that he was surprised to see his film about zombies won the Silver Screen Surprise Award. I asked him what he was going to do now and he replied that since his film won he has an audition with DC to replace Ben Affleck for the role of Batman in Batman vs. Superman. Christian Bale immediately swooped in and stole his Red Web Award…much to the delight (relief) and applause of DC fans all over the world.
  • Surprisingly, Adam Sandler was a little bummed that for the SECOND year in a row he received no mention at all. I told him not to worry and that he wasn’t ignored…just that no one watches his movies anymore. He seemed ironically relieved.
  • Olaf told me that he was headed to the Bahamas to celebrate as he’s never been to the Caribbean and James Franco had invited him to join him for Spring Break. Franco, with his hair in cornrows, popped in and said “Snow Cones for Life, yo!”spring-breakers-robbery
  • Robert Downey Jr was there once again and, once again got no award/nomination yet still sought the spotlight. Just as we were about to start talking, Scarlett Johansson showed up and all eyes, cameras, microphones etc, left Iron Man alone. Ben Kingsley showed up and whispered to him “I told you you’d never see that coming!”
  • George Clooney said he really thought his career was “taking off” with Gravity and was disappointed that he didn’t win, but congratulated Alfonso Cuaron and Sandra Bullock (who taunted saying “That’s what you get for leaving me!”).
  • Emma Stone gave everyone in the audience a pair of shoes from RWA-nominated The Croods. I just took a belt.shoes
